Single Mom Encouragement

Being a Single Mom takes alot of courage...

Day in and day out having no support from a spouse, dealing with complaining, arguing and often disrespectful children takes a toll on our weary souls. It is very hard to muster up the energy to keep going... to get up, clean house, do laundry, prepare meals, mediate children and add to that the "man work" like doing garbage, mowing the lawn and cleaning the gutters.

Is it any wonder us Single Moms don't all die from mere exhaustion?

But wait, there's more.... Without a husband to provide for our family, that also puts single moms in the place to be financially responsible for ourselves, the children, and every bill.

This is one reason why so many children and single parents do not even have health insurance or dental coverage. We can't AFFORD it! I can tell you from experience that if you are generally healthy, and only need occasional check-ups or coverage for emergencies, go with a discount program or something with a low monthly premium that covers emergency room visits.

Also homeopathic and herbal remedies are always better to try first. We only go to a doctor if it's an absoloute necessity. You can read more about the truth of our "healthcare" system and alternative, natural cures by Clicking Here.

I am so thankful that Almighty God assures us "His mercies are new every morning" because each day has enough trouble of it's own.

However hard it is alot of times as a Single Mom, I can stand on the Word of my Lord. His promises are true and do not fail.

He is the only True Love for me and each new struggle that comes into my life draws me ever closer to His Heart.

After a long day of pulling my hair out and having the desire to put my kids up for sale on eBay (lol), I know where to turn because He KNOWS exactly how I feel, He's always present to listen and love me through it.

Rather than dwell on circumstance - which human nature bids us to do - our focus is supposed to be on God, and what He is doing in us and through us. Talk about something being easier said than done. My struggle to keep my eyes on Him is a daily battle.

Satan wants us discouraged and depressed so he can immobilize us. If we are passive and stagnant, feeling sorry (often legitimately) for ourselves, we are no threat to him.

On the other hand when we keep our joy in the midst of these trials, we are very effective witnesses and will be used greatly for the Kingdom of Heaven. The joy of the Lord is our strength, and we need to be reminded daily that one of the enemy's main goals is to steal our joy, and our peace. We have to allow God to change us from the inside out, as we surrender ourselves to Him. To refuse to let the devil get us upset, and keep our peace. This takes alot of practice, but is worth it.

Another thing to remember is not to beat ourselves up when we miss the mark. "There is therefore now, NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1

Believers, and especially women, drag ourselves down with guilt and condemn ourselves. I for one, take things to heart and can cry easily when I am hurt or wounded emotionally. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and just have to "let it out" when I feel bad. I am not strong in that area, but God made me who I am and loves me just as I am.

Criticism from others cuts away at our souls. Words absolutely have the power of life and death. We either build up or tear down with our words and don't understand the devastation they can cause before they're already out of our mouths. So much of Proverbs deals with the wise man choosing his words carefully, thinking before he speaks, and listening more than he talks.

Time goes by so fast anymore, sometimes I feel as though my life is spinning out of control and I'm just here for the ride. We all come to a point when we are so weighed down by the stress of daily living, we want to throw our hands in the air and announce, "I quit!". Our feelings, however can greatly deceive us.

Know, dear one, that God has a Plan and Purpose for your life and never lose sight of that Blessed hope. One day, we will look upon the Face of Him who bore our sin and paid the price in full so we would never be separated again. Eternally, we shall be with our Lord!

Take the time to relax and enjoy your life, spend some time just watching the clouds go by, smelling the flowers and admiring the beauty of His Creation. Life is short, so hold your head up and know that you are loved, cherished and are always cared for. Seek Him and His ways and be encouraged in your spirit. Everything IS going to be alright. The very One who created the storm, will hold you in His hand through the storms in your life.

It's hard for our human minds to comprehend so much of what happens in life and in the lives of others. It is often difficult to hold onto the faith that He has put into us, when we feel betrayed and lonely.

Praying can seem pointless when we have no hope left. Yet, dropping to our knees and coming to Him is exactly the medicine we need. Fellowship with our Creator and Redeemer strengthens us when we don't want to go on. Mankind will always let us down, but God is the Faithful One. He will never let us go.

PSALM 142:

1. I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.

2. I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

3. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

4. I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

5. I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

6. Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

7. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
